Brian Williams

I haven't been following the Brian Williams ordeal as closely as I wish I was, however, it's still fascinating.

If this is new to you, here's my basic understanding. He lied about being on a helicopter that was shot down. The weird thing is that it was shot down over 10 years ago... how it's taken this long to come out that he was lying is beyond me.

Now he's on a 3 month suspension from NBC and most of his "personal stories" are being called into question.

It reminds me a lot of Steven Glass. He's a guy that fabricated 27 out of 41 articles he wrote for the news magazine The New Republic. Imagine that... you make up over half of your NEWS articles!

It's crazy. It's also a great reminder to be careful what we say.

Obviously, it takes a lot of trying to get into a situation like Williams or Glass, however we still have to give an account of what we say.

A white lie might not seem as bad as claiming to be on a helicopter that was shot down. It's still a lie though.

Eventually, even the smallest most unnoticeable lie will catch up with you. And that will hurt your reputation. News anchor or not. Once your credibility is smashed, it's pretty hard to put back together too.

For Glass, he had to start writing fiction. Probably what he should have been doing from the start. For Williams, I guess time will tell.

The truth hurts, but lying can be fatal.

A New Christ[mas]ian Movie

Some times my day starts with a lot of emails. Other times, I'm met with a bunch of things that need to be looked after ASAP. Others I'm greeted with the horrid feeling of realizing I left my lunch neatly packed by my door.

Today I was greeted with this.

My face melted into a cross between awe and wonder. Then to confusion. Was this some sort of awesome joke? Is that really Kirk Cameron exploding through a Christmas tree welding a candy cane and a manger?

Yes. It is.

Could this possibly be a real film and not some sort of twisted dream and/or parody?

It exists.

Is there a trailer for this sure to be wondrous film?

There is.

I honestly don't know what to think about any of this. Which is rare for me. Is the movie a documentary with a story? A drama? Over the top action?

It seems to have a bit of an irreverent tone too, which is also odd. Whether or not this makes it to the watch list has yet to be determined, however, I shall always cherish the memory of first seeing that poster.

What do you think? Watch? Pass?

Christ August has written some very popular songs --- Starry Night and 7 x 70 being two of them. And now, we can add this.... um.... creation(?) to the list. Christ August with "The Candy Wrap."
(and no I didn't misspell rap, that is how he spells it)

Sooooo... do you think his next CD should be rap? No... me neither.

April Fools 2011

As you have likely found out today (perhaps the hard way) today is April Fools.
I have always been a fan of this non-official holiday. As long as it is kept fun and not harmful (be that emotionally or physically) I think this is a great day for a laugh.
That said I now present you with one of the most classic April Fools jokes around...

This was really broadcast on television... with no mention that it was a prank... at all!

*NOTE*
I'd post the video right here, but that is forbidden by the good folks at the internet (ak-hem, YouTube.)

I'd hate to be convicted by this jury

I have never had to do jury duty before. My Dad did once. He wasn't allowed to tell me anything that happened due to security (it was a high profile case).
Keeping quiet, wouldn't be a problem with this jury member... talk about crazy.
